What is Hibiki-Au Art Munakata?
Munakata is a place where people have lived and woven history since ancient times.
This project began when people who love this land and believe in the power of art came together.
Since mythic times, prayers for safe voyages and abundant harvests have been offered to the vast blue sea.
The townscape, shaped through many eras, continues to speak to us today.
Here, nature and history, the lives of the people, and the sensibilities of artists come into resonance.
From that resonance, artworks emerge—
each one engaging its site and quietly speaking to those who encounter it.
We strive to create such moments.

Oshima Island by public transport
From JR Kagoshima Line "Togo Station" (Munakata Taisha exit side), take the "Fureai" bus from "Togo eki mae" stop to "Kominato hatoba" (approximately 20 minutes). From Kominato Port Ferry Terminal, take a ferry to Oshima Island (15-25 minutes).
Akamajuku by public transport
It's about a 3-minute walk from JR Kyoikudai-mae Station to Akamajuku.
！Notes on Travel Within Oshima！
To get around the island, you can choose from Noruto (on-demand bus), taxi, rental car, rental bicycle, or walking. We recommend making reservations in advance for all options except walking (reservations for Noruto can be made starting one week before the day of travel). Please note that the last ferry departing from Oshima Port leaves at 6:00 p.m., so please be sure to check the time when planning your visit.

Whether you love art, are curious about creating something,
want to rediscover the charm of Munakata,
or simply feel drawn to this project—
we welcome your participation.
No prior experience or specific skills are required.
Volunteer Roles

Assisting with events (workshops, talks, etc.): planning, coordination, and reception

Installation and deinstallation of artworks (sculptures, installations, spatial works)

Venue setup, on-site support, and cleanup
The 2nd Art Festival is scheduled for November 2026.
Crowdfunding
The crowdfunding campaign has ended.
(Period: August 22–September 30)
Thanks to the generous support of so many people, we received a total of 1,853,465 yen in donations—including contributions from the crowdfunding campaign as well as those made via bank transfer and in person during the campaign period—and were able to reach our total goal of 1.5 million yen.
